A ‘Super Saturday’ in Killarney awaits as the 2022 WEPF World Masters will reach its conclusion.
Several rounds of the prestigious event were completed on Friday at The Gleneagle Hotel, and at the close of play, just 32 players still had hopes of lifting the trophy on the Emerald Isle this weekend.
Callum Singleton and Josh Kane – former winners of the tournament in 2018 and 2017, respectively – made it through. Both players will be looking to become just the fourth multi-time winner of the title.
A host of Ultimate Pool Professional players are still in the mix; Shaun Storry, Lydan Debono, Aaron Davies, Ronan McCarthy, Dom Cooney, Karl Sutton, Dylan Leary, Stevie Dempsey, Adam Bassoo, and Declan Brennan, who pipped Shane Thompson 7-6 in a late-night conclusion.
Host nation Ireland has a sizeable contingent in the last 32, including Shaun Sharkey, rising young star Cormac Kerr, and the aforementioned Dempsey.
In-form Frenchman Yannick Beaufils is still on course for another major WEPF final, and he is joined by fellow countrymen Olivier Chauveau and Victorin Labar.
Paul Clack will fly the flag for Australia, whilst Richard Gifford, Andy Williams and Elliot Combe will do the same for Wales.
Partab and Harjeet Singh progressing to Saturday means there will be Indian representation, and Scott Muscat will return with Maltese compatriot Debono.
