The 2021 Ultimate Pool season will conclude this Sunday with the invitational Champion of Champions Shootout.
Bringing together winners and the best performing players from this year’s Professional and Challenger Series’, the one-day, fast-paced spectacular will be broadcast live on FreeSports TV across afternoon (1200-1700) and evening (1900-2300) sessions.
A 16-player knockout competition, the winner will pocket a cool £5,000 for their day’s work. All matches in all rounds are races to five with a 25-minute match-clock. The opening 15 minutes of a match will have a 30-second shot-clock in operation, but that is reduced to just 15 seconds for the final ten minutes. The Golden Break and Golden Duck are both in operation and should the match be tied when the clock expires, a 6-reds shootout will determine the winner.
The Draw and Match Times
Chris Melling breaks off the action against Adam Bassoo, followed by two all-Challenger ties with Hiten Patel facing Liam White and Eddie Barker sharing the baize with Dan Eaton-Lees.
The first of two all-professional matches sees recent Pro Series 8 winner Dom Cooney playing professional number one Shane Thompson – a three-time event victor this term.
Carl Morris clashes with Challenger number one ranked player Craig Waddingham and then Gareth Potts - fresh from his triumph in Pro Series 7 - takes on Australia's Jake McCartney. Close friends and Eative Pairs Cup teammates Chris Day and Shaun Storry will then aim to eliminate each other from proceedings.
The first round is completed when Northern Ireland’s Declan Brennan crosses cues with youngster Luke Gilbert, who was the highest ranked Challenger not to have won a title this season.
In the evening session, the quarters, semis and final will all be played. The draw bracket is fixed throughout the tournament.
